Neal Austin Eckert was born April 18, 1980, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Kevin Richard Eckert and Lindey McDaniel. He passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 43. Neal was preceded in death by his mother, Lindey McDaniel, who passed away in April 2023, and his stepfather Gary McDaniel. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Eckert, and their children, Jillian Hope Eckert and Chase Austin Eckert, and his father, Kevin, with whom he shared both a love of blues and cherished Sunday chats on the phone. He is also survived by his brothers and their partners, Ryan Eckert and Sarah, Ross Eckert and Caroline, and Max McDaniel and Jackie; father- and mother-in-law Ronnie and Carla Warren; brother-in-law and partner Derrick and Tiffany Warren; and his nieces and nephews, Ethan, Ariel, Myles, Ellie, and Rune.
Neal attended Bixby High School and earned a degree in finance from Oklahoma State University. He owned and operated Sunnyside Greenhouse. As a successful business owner, he was well known for his dedication to his employees, customers, and flowers. Despite ice storms and heat waves, Neal would be at the greenhouse tending to his plants so that his customers were never left empty-handed. His pansies and begonias were the best around.
Neal was a devoted and proud father to his children, Jillian Hope and Chase Austin Eckert. He was a talented musician and skillful guitarist, and cherished watching Jill grow as a musician herself in marching band. Neal shared his hard-working ethic with his son Chase as an athlete and enjoyed coaching Chase in basketball as well as being his training partner. Neal would say his greatest accomplishment was convincing Rebecca to marry him. They would have celebrated their 25th anniversary on September 4th. She was the love of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to boast about how amazing she is. He would tell anyone who would listen how beautiful, smart, and supportive she was and how he did not deserve her. They were an unstoppable team. At the close of every day, they raised a glass of whiskey to toast the life they created together.
Neal enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, music, reading books with his kids, cool cars, basketball, family fun nights with the Williams family, playing with the dogs, and quiet evenings at home with the wife. He was incredibly smart and funny and a great friend. Neal taught everyone that family matters the most. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by all.
Memorial Service will be 1PM, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
