Nedra J. (McGinnis) Bolain, banker, baker, writer, and world's most adored wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, friend, and "Nene," passed away on December 16, 2014. Nedra was born June 6, 1928 in Garfield, Arkansas to Solon McGinnis and Phebe (Foster) McGinnis, the second of four children. She spent most of her younger years in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and was the first Miss Pea Ridge in 1950.
Nedra married the love of her life, Jim Bolain, on September 9, 1950. They spent over 60 years laughing, boating and raising a family together. Jim and Nedra's children, Diana Lynn Ingraham and James Ricky Bolain, their eight grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Nedra worked for F&M Bank for 35 years and was also an active writer and noted wit, writing columns for both the bank and Moose Lodge newsletters. Nedra was active alongside Jim in the Tulsa Moose Lodge #862 and the American Legion, Post 308. A thrift store diva, she loved formal lodge events (always drawn to fancy dresses with "sleeve interest," stilettos, and costume jewelry). She was also an avid rose gardener and baker of the "world's best chocolate chip cookies."
Nedra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim and her son, Rick, and brother Edward. She is survived by her daughter, Diana, son-in-law Michael J. Ingraham, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, brother Clint McGinnis, sister Yvonne Yarbrough, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nedra was loved, admired, and respected by all she graced with her presence. A celebration of her life will be held at the Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st, Tulsa, OK on Friday, December 19, 2014 at noon. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at
