Nelda Elkins Coates of Coweta Oklahoma passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2017. She was born November 15, 1937 in Prague, Oklahoma to Lynton and Velma Wisdom. Nelda was a proud Blue Star Mother and member of the First Baptist Church, Stroud Oklahoma. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the ladies she routinely played Bunco with and her close friends from the NEO Miata Club. Nelda was so proud of her relationship with her life-long best friend from childhood, Patsy James of Stroud Oklahoma. Nelda also enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood puppy, Joe Lewis. Growing up, Nelda was a member of the Order of Rainbow Girls, Girl Scouts, and a cheerleader. She attended Draughon's Business School which led her to a job at Natkin & Co in Tulsa Oklahoma where she met her husband of 32 years, Ronald Coates. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Cara Mensing; Lori Pechacek and husband Johnny; Donna Couzynse; sons, Jackie Elkins and wife Angela; Todd Coates and wife Gemy; Brent Coates and wife Heather; daughter, Alyshia Warner and husband Jim; eleven grandkids and two great-grandkids. Nelda loved and was loved by so many.
