Obituary

Nellie Clinton Fine was born August 14, 1922 to Charles Frank Clinton and Bertha Ellings Clinton in Arma, Kansas. She was one of four children born to Charles and Bertha. The family later moved to Oklahoma and she graduated from Hartshorne High School in Hartshorne, OK in 1940. Nell then attended Southeastern State College in Durant, OK from 1940-1943. Later in life she also took additional classes at Tulsa University. She worked as a secretary for Dyer and Marshall Insurance in Durant from 1943-1944 before going to work for the Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlister, Oklahoma from 1944-1949. She then took a position working for Southwestern Power Administration from 1949-1955 during which time she earned one of the state's first Certified Professional Secretaries certifications in 1953.

Nell married Howard F. Fine on February 18, 1955 and they were blessed to spend 62 years together as husband and wife. After marrying Howard, Nell continued her career working for various oil companies as a secretary and administrative assistant. She ended her career working for Sun Oil Company for 15 years before retiring in 1983. She was a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church in Tulsa where she served as a volunteer in the church library for over 30 years.

Nell was an avid OU Football fan who loved cheering on her favorite team. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and working jigsaw puzzles. Even at 101 years old she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and playing card games on her tablet. Nell had a wonderful sense of humor and contagious laughter. She loved spending time with and eating out with friends. Nell and Howard were blessed with wonderful friends in their Anniversary Club who enjoyed eating out and celebrating each other's wedding anniversaries. Probably her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an encourager to all she met. Her strong faith in the Lord Jesus was the foundation of her life. On Wednesday, January 24, Nell was welcomed home to heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard F. Fine; and her three brothers-Patrick Clinton, Frank Clinton and George Clinton; and one sister-Annie Mae Clinton. Nell is survived by her three sons - Howard Franklin Fine, Jr. (Nelda) of Coweta, OK; Gregory M. Fine (Melanie) of Higginsville, MO; and John M. Fine of Tulsa, OK. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren: Matthew Fine (Kimberly), Emily Fine (Jason Breslow), Jessica Knightly (Paul), Mark Fine (Brooke), Kara Fleege (Jon) and Stacy Hanan (Jason). In addition, she is survived by nine great-grandchildren: Jonathon, Nikolas and Lauren Fleege; June Hanan; Asher and Ella Fine; Judah and Milo Knightly; and Harper Fine.

Her funeral service will be Friday, February 2 at 10:00 am at Memorial Baptist Church (2800 S. Yale) in Tulsa, OK and burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home (9350 E. 51st Street, Tulsa).
