Obituary

March 9, 1985 brought Nicholis Alexander Hummel into this world with the same stubbornness he would continue in for the next 33 years. On Friday, October 19, 2018, Nick, husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed from this life after a 10+ year long and hard fought battle with brain cancer. While he enjoyed a great many things from driving his truck, sports, hiking, reading, playing games, throwing back a cold one, swimming, yard work and playing with his dog, his greatest joys in this life were times spent with his bevy of beauties, laughing and loving. There was little in this life that could wipe away that glorious smile from his handsome face and even when eye-to-eye and toe-to-toe with cancer, he did not lose his wonderful ability to find humor. A humor that was enjoyed most inappropriately at times... but goodness, the chuckle that would escape him was contagious. Nicholis will be celebrated and forever remembered by his devoted wife and very best friend Myca and their precious daughters Lyric, Evarleigh and Harlow. Nick is also remembered by his loving father and stepmother Jess and Diana Hummel and his dear mother Bonnie Hummel. Happy stories will be fondly told and retold by his brothers and their families, Tony, Hannah, Austin and Amanda Fox, Tristin and Bracstin Hummel; David Hummel, Christy Nutter and Magnolia Hummel; Jamison Hummel and fiance, Cara Crawford; and one sister Susan Bolyard; step-brothers Erik NyQuist and Kyle Nyquist and mother-in-law Sheila Friend and brother-in-law Simon Vickers. Nicholis is also celebrated by extended family and so many friends from near and far. Through the countless members of #TeamHummel this remarkable man will always be remembered with so much love, laughter and fondness. We will never cease in speaking Nick's name and we are forever inspired by his positive, enduring and generous spirit. Nicholis left this life just as he lived it...a true hero.

"Four or five moments - that's all it takes to become a hero. Everyone thinks it's a full-time job. Wake up a hero. Brush your teeth a hero. Go to work a hero. Not true. Over a lifetime there are only four or five moments that really matter. Moments when you're offered a choice to make a sacrifice, conquer a flaw, save a friend - spare an enemy. In these moments everything else falls away..."
