Nicolas James Ferrell
Born March 19, 2000
Died November 26, 2023
Nicolas was the second child created with love and intention by the beautiful generous hearts of Mary Nicole Niceley-Ferrell and James R. Ferrell III (Nicky and Jimmy). He must've known immediately in his little baby brain that his soul had chosen the right family, when he was basking in the pure admiration of his parents and big sister, Madison. Other than lighting up every person he met with his smile, his next big development was becoming a big brother to Logan. The sibling trifecta of power was complete.
As the middle child, he developed the gift of diplomacy and influence. Nicolas was generous with his time, knowledge, and words of encouragement to anyone he came across in need of a friend. He loved creating opportunities for creating community through group activities like sports or board games and used his natural athletic abilities and strategic mind to bring people together in an encouraging and supportive way. He was instrumental in creating a soccer team when he attended Dove Science Academy, recruiting students to discover the powerful bonds of friendship through teamwork on the soccer field, and in academic settings, like the Chess Club he started. His warm welcoming smile and willingness to be helpful, combined with his intuitive protective nature made him an asset in every group and setting. His attention made people see the good in themselves. He knew how to disarm a bully without humiliation or violence, and he knew how to spot a lonely person and bring them into an activity and call attention to the benefits they brought to the team. Nicolas made it all look so easy and fun. It was ingrained in him from birth through the inherent loyalty, love, closeness of his family. He was so loved that he had plenty to share, and he didn't waste a bit of it. He set a great example of how to live with enthusiasm for opportunity and adventure. His life at 23 was shaping up as he was learning new skills as a carpenter. He was enjoying the sense of accomplishment and pride he felt at the end of each day's work as he saw his progress accumulate.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Nicole Niceley-Ferrell and maternal grandfather George Niceley, Jr. He is survived by his father James; stepmother Lindsay Ferrell; sister Madison Nicole Ferrell; brother Logan George Ferrell; nephew Keenan Harris; paternal grandparents Sherry and Rick Yates; maternal grandmothers Judy Anderson and Carol Niceley; aunts Jamie Ferrell and Kerri Harris, uncle Todd Henderson, and many loving cousins and friends.
In honor of his contributions, try to notice people a little more, acknowledge the goodness in them, stick up for someone who feels defeated, and maybe learn a fun dance to break out at the next party. Tell your stories and keep his memory alive, then get out there and shine.
