Obituary

By the Grace of God, Mrs. Nina Ilene McMains (September 24th, 1935 - 2015) has won her battle over the evils of Alzheimer's hopelessness. It was a long and challenging road for her but on Sunday, September 6th, she received her Victory. At 5:47 P.M., Nina passed in the arms of her family and was guided by her Savior to be reunited with Bill, the love of her life. We can only imagine how grand a celebration it must have been, as Monday the 7th would have been their 57th Anniversary ...... what a blessed reunion indeed! Nina witnessed firsthand life's invasiveness of this vile disease when her mother-in-law, Helen, was diagnosed with ALZ in 1990. Alongside Bill, Nina lovingly aided in Helen's care as she struggled with the disease over the next 10 years, only to be stricken with the disease herself in 2007.

Our mother's struggle with Alzheimers was a difficult, frustrating and heavyhearted test, but it also provided her family some great opportunities. Being able to spend precious moments that under different circumstances we would not have otherwise taken the time to do has in its own way been a blessing. We've enjoyed some short but special "connections" with her that each of us will carry for many years to come. Those occasions have helped us persevere when the challenging parts of the disease would fade for just a moment.....and allow us in. It also provided great cause for us to think of our father and appreciate his strength and love in caring for her as he did for so many years. To be afforded firsthand witness to the frustration, anger and doubt that accompany this journey has given us all a clearer understanding of the fight our Father had endured. Fortunately for us, we have had each other to help carry the torch in finishing his race and for that we are thankful …….

Her three sons, Jeff, Brad and Todd, along with our wives Andi, Bonnie and Andrea and Nina's 11 grandchildren, Shelbi Lynn, Chad, Kelsey, Lynna, Daniel, Cameron, Kylie, Ganon, Morgan, Blake and Spencer have resolved to forego any visitation/viewing and ask that everyone remember her "the way you remember." All family, friends, Real Estate Associates and healthcare providers are invited to attend a Memorial Service to honor our mother at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 11th, 2015 at Kirk of The Hills Presbyterian Church, 4102 E. 61st St. Tulsa, OK, where Nina's remains will be combined with Bill's and laid in rest ……. together again.
