"Mmm-hello"...
Nola Jean Durkee was a steadfast, strong-hearted, and stunning woman with a sparkling
soul. Her zest for life came from her love of her family. She took pride in her children Richard,
Lora, and Amy, and their families. She always wanted to be a part of their lives whether it be
tagging along on trips or just coming over for Sunday burgers. She loved every bit of quality
family time - even at the ding-dang casino. The love she gave her children, grandchildren, and
great grandchildren (Bronco Billies) is indescribable. It was an honor to know her, but to be
loved by her was a gift from up above. Her memory will not be forgotten because she is
everywhere that her family is. She is in the Christmas Fudge, the family Cherry Fried Pie recipe,
and in daily crossword puzzles. She is in every Elvis song you hear, in every scoop of black
walnut ice cream you eat, and in every pickleball game you play. Nola Jean will be remembered
as a woman who loved her family and who was excited by all the things life had to offer,
including when she purchased the newly-invented microwave. Though we are saddened by her
passing, we come together to celebrate her life, her ability to make us smile, and most
importantly the love she gave to her family and friends. She does not want us to weep, but
instead to rejoice in her memory. Be thou at peace Nola Jean and we hope you are cuttin' a rug
to Bob Wills with Clyde up above.
