Norma Louise Alberty died after a lengthy illness on June 6, 2014. Born in Wewoka, Oklahoma to oilfield worker George A. Gilstrap and housewife Malinda Jane Gilstrap, Norma graduated from Wewoka High School in 1958 and soon left to find new adventures in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She pursued a career at Sinclair Oil Company and worked on that company's merger with Arco Oil and Gas. Her job then required a move to Denver, Colorado in the mid 80's followed shortly by another move to Midland, Texas where she worked until her retirement. She then came home to Tulsa where she spent the rest of her life.

Norma was an incredibly positive person with an easy, loud and unmistakable laugh. She was always up for fun, be it in the form of listening to good (boogie woogie) music, a delicious meal, playing games or some serious shoe and jewelry shopping. She had an amazing attitude about life in spite of debilitating health problems over the past 15 years, she possessed a deep generosity of spirit that led to her numerous volunteer positions during and following her career working for Arco Oil and Gas. She worked with Meals on Wheels and Hospice among others and also played an integral role in the organization for retired Arco workers. Norma believed that life was to be lived well and to the fullest and she truly made her time on this earth count.

Norma was married to Grover Lee Alberty until his death in 1978. She is survived by her niece and nephew Karen and Michael Walker, great nephew, Adam Walker and devoted friend, Linda Smart. She is preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Ann Suva. Norma was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
