Obituary

Norma Bida Babione died on January 5, 2016 at the age of 94 in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a brief illness. She was ready to join other family members at the throne of God after many years of faithful service to her Savior. Norma devoted herself to being a homemaker and mother and was a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years. In her private time, she wrote poetry and short essays-- many dedicated to the glory of God.

Norma was born in Bartlett, Texas in 1921 to George and Myrtle Garrett. Shortly after, her family moved from the farm to Somerville, Texas where she lived until she left for the University of Texas at Austin. It was there she met her future husband Herbert Babione while they both were working in the botany department. They married in 1941 and were a team for 56 years, raising three children while moving to various towns in Texas, California, and Oklahoma. With Herbert's retirement as a geologist from Exxon (Humble), they made their final move to Tulsa in 1982.

Herbert preceded Norma in death in 1997. She was also predeceased by son, Dr. James Babione of Roanoke, Virginia and granddaughter, Michelle Lasley Hunt of Cleveland, Oklahoma.
She is survived by daughter, Barbara Lasley and husband, Michael of Tulsa; son, Robert Babione and wife, Linda of Des Moines, Washington, daughter-in-law Ella Babione (James); granddaughter, Amanda Lasley Olson and husband, Chris of Mosinee, Wisconsin; grandson Chris Babione, Carrollton, Texas; grandson Andy Babione and wife Betsy, Galveston Texas. She had 9 great-grand children: Joshua, Elizabeth, Tabitha, Caleb, Abigail, Lily, Asher, Rebecca, and AJ and 2 great-great-grand children: Louis, Celeste.
