Olive Jean Schneider was born January 18, 1922, in Tulsa Oklahoma, to Glen Allen West and
Olive Gladys (Rock) West. She grew up in Tulsa and was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School in 1939. Following graduation she attended Tulsa Business College. She then worked for 34 years, as a receptionist and book keeper for Dr. A.V. Fish and his son Dr. Mancil Fish.
Following Dr. Mancil Fish's retirement she worked for her brother's company, Delta Electric, for 3 1/2 years as the company book keeper.
Jean married Owen Burdette Schneider in 1946 and the couple had one son, the Rev. Dr. George Allen Schneider.
Jean grew up as an active member of the Anderson Indiana branch of the Church of God but in
1968 she and her husband joined Boston Avenue United Methodist Church where they were active in the Friendly Couples Sunday School class and the Wednesday evening continuing education program. Jean also served the church several years volunteering as a Choir Mother.
Jean and Owen loved dancing and were members of the Jo-le-me and Young Men's Club. Jean also loved to play the organ and belonged to the Tulsa Organ Club. Jean was an avid garage sale shopper and for many years enjoyed shopping for toys which she donated to the Nowata United Methodist Toys for Tot's program, the Yukon Youth and Family Services program and several church nursery and pre-school centers.
Jean was preceded in death by: parents Glen and Olive West, her husband Owen Schneider, brother Randal West, brother Newell West, and sister Dorothy Webber. She is survived by: son G. Allen Schneider and wife Kristi, granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Schneider, grandson John
Robert Schneider and wife Alicia, great-grandsons Andy and Sam Schneider, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing will be 12Noon-8PM, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Interment is scheduled for Wednesday morning, June 14 at 9:00 am at the Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow; a memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 14, at 10:30 at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
