Oliver Elmo "Curley" Rutter, 58, of Montgomery County, Dearing KS, passed away Saturday, October 1, 1977, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on Monday, May 12, 1919, in Geuda Springs, KS, to Oliver Perry Rutter and Gladys Ethel (King) Rutter. Curley was proud to have served in the United States Army in World War II. He was the owner of Curley's automobile body and paint shop in Coffeyville, KS, from 1969 until his recent retirement, and was a member of the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce. Previously, he had owned an auto shop in Independence, KS. Curley is survived by his wife Zella Irene (Green) Rutter of the home; son, Larry "Pete" Rutter of Independence, KS; daughter, Mrs. Virginia "Soukie" Bortz of Chicago, IL; 2 grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Glady Rutter of Arksansas City, KS; 3 brothers, Willis Rutter of Coffeyville, KS, Lyle Rutter of Wichita, KS, and Leo Rutter of Penrose, CO; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maxine Jean Coffey and spouse, Ernest H. of Arkansas City KS, and Mrs. Rilma Allen, of Arkansas City, KS; and a lifetime of friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
