Obituary

Orval W. "Bob" Wagner of 4423 E. 4th Pl., Tulsa, OK, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 14, 1977, at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, OK. He died from a heart attack, after a lengthy illness. Bob was born in Nola, AR, on August 31,1914, to John T. Wagner and Bamba (Wray) Wagner. He married the love of his life, Leola L. (Hunnicutt) Wagner on August 8, 1940, in Scott County, AR. Prior to moving to Tulsa, OK, in 1942, Bob attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, AR, and taught in the public schools in Nola, AR. After retiring from McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Co. in August, 1914, after 14 years of dedicated service, Bob was a real estate salesman for several years, being last associated with Ken Popejoy & Co. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, Tulsa, OK, and the Masonic Lodge. Organizer and manager of gospel quartets, he was a former President of the Eastern Half of Oklahoma Singing Convention, and Secretary-Treasurer of the National Singing Convention. Bob hosted the "Singing Convention of the Air" over KAKC and was affiliated with a number of radio stations in Arkansas and Oklahoma, as well as singing with several gospel quartets in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife of 37 years of the home (died in 2006); 2 brothers, Luther Wagner of Nola, AR, and Alonzo Wagner of Kansas City, MO; and a lifetime of friends and associates. He was preceded in death by his parents.
