Orville Lee Smith was born on August 7, 1923, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Charles William and Forest Hohimer Smith. Orville graduated from high school in Muskogee, then served in the United States Army until February of 1946.
Following his discharge from the US Army, Orville went to work for Amoco Oil and Gas Company in Houston, Texas, and worked as an Accountant for Amoco until his retirement in February of 1985.
Orville married Lucie Vivian Waterbury on May 17, 1958, in Houston, Texas. They transferred with Amoco from Houston to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June of 1965, where they were actively involved both in their church and community. Lucie preceded him in death in November of 2012.
In 2014 Orville moved from Tulsa to Plano, Texas, to be closer to his family. He stepped into eternity Wednesday morning, December 27, 2017, in Plano surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucie; two sisters, Alice Ward and Evelyn Davies; and two brothers, Charles William "Buck" Smith, Jr., and Henry Smith. Orville is survived by a niece, Connie Knowlden, and a nephew, Craig Davies. He is also survived by grand and great grand nieces and nephews along with his Waterbury Family nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews who dearly loved him. Orville was dearly loved by his assisted living community in Carrollton, along with a host of other lifelong friends.
