A proud breast cancer survivor, Pamela died August 10, 2017 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. Pam was born on June 12, 1952 at Valley Forge War Hospital as the first child of Philip Merlin Niles and Virginia Jinny' Butler. Siblings include Janice, David, and Melissa. She graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs in 1970. She attended Oklahoma State University later earning a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Draughan's Business School in Tulsa.
Pam met Mike Phariss, the love of her life when she was only 16 and he 17. They married 4 years later and recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Together they had two sons, Joshua and Casey who she often referred to as "beautiful".
Pam loved music. She spent most of her career as the Music Department Administrative Assistant at First United Methodist Church while also singing in the choir. Pam never stopped singing. In her last days she would often sing Amazing Grace with her visitors and listening to hymns was a constant comfort.
Pam loved her family. Pam had a large family and could often be found organizing family get-togethers for birthdays, holidays, and baby showers or for no occasion at all. More than one niece or nephew felt that their birthday wasn't properly celebrated unless there was a party at Mike and Pam's house.
Pam especially loved her grandchildren and was excited with each new addition. Josh and his wife Katie gave her Matthew (13) and Jenna (11) and Casey and his wife Stefanie added Harrison (7), Greyson (4) and Beckett (2) a few years later. Pam loved to babysit and pick just the right gift for birthdays or Christmas. Even as her Alzheimer's symptoms worsened, her delight in her grandkids was apparent.
Pam was joyful and brought that joy everywhere she went. She was often smiling, silly and telling stories that made people laugh.
Pam is survived by her mother, Jinny Niles, her husband, Michael Phariss, children Josh Phariss (wife, Katie), Casey Phariss (wife, Stefanie); grandchildren Matt, Jenna, Harrison, Greyson, and Beckett; her siblings Janice (husband, Robert Lumsden), David Niles (wife, Anna), and Melissa (husband, Mike Considine); many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
