Pamela Jo
Smith
Aug 12, 1946 — Jun 24, 2026
Pamela Jo Smith, 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Pam was born on August 12, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Frances Sue Moore and Burl Winkle. She was raised alongside her beloved older sister, Nancy Chapman, and enjoyed a close relationship with her grandparents, Kimsey and Clara Wood, whose love and influence helped shape her early years. Her childhood was filled with family, lifelong friendships, and the foundation of a life marked by kindness, generosity, and quiet (and sometimes not so quiet!) strength. She remained especially close to her sister throughout their lives and was deeply devoted to Nancy's children-Mike, Todd, and Lori-playing an active role in their lives as they grew up and maintaining those close relationships throughout her life.
While in junior high school, Pam met the love of her life, Lynn Dexter Smith in 8th grade. Their young romance blossomed into a marriage that would span over 60 years. They were married on December 11, 1965, beginning a lifelong journey of partnership, devotion, adventure, and unwavering love. During Lynn's service in the United States Navy, Pam faithfully supported him through the challenges of military life, traveling back and forth from Oklahoma to California while building the strong foundation that would define their family for generations.
Together they were blessed with three sons, which Pam often stated was one of the greatest joys of her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lynn; her sons: Chad Smith and his wife, Carrie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ryan Smith of Eugene, Oregon; and Adam Smith and his wife, Juliet, of Castle Rock, Colorado.
Pam was a devoted grandmother to Megan Cashion and her husband, Mitchell; Carson Smith; Hudson Smith; Beau Smith; and Wade Smith. She was a beloved Aunt Pam to her and Lynn's nieces and nephews including Terry Griiffin and her husband Stan; Tammy Crow and her husband Richard; Terimy Dock-Miller, Michael Chapman, Todd Chapman, and Lori Akers and her husband, Scott, remaining closely involved in their lives through the years. Later, she delighted in becoming Great-Aunt Pam to Alex Akers, Jacob Chapman and his wife Rachael, Will Chapman, Aleigha Akers and Ana Akers, celebrating their milestones and creating treasured memories with them. Being "Mimi" was one of her greatest privileges, and she treasured every opportunity to attend activities, celebrate milestones, create memories, and simply spend time with the people she loved.
Pam especially enjoyed traveling and exploring new places and adventures with Lynn. Whether it was a hot air balloon ride, riding a donkey down the Grand Canyon, or any of the many memorable vacation, they loved experiencing life side by side and hand in hand. She also enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, dancing with family, spending time with dear friends, and cheering on her children and grandchildren at their activities.
More than anything else, Pam loved her family. They were her greatest joy, her proudest accomplishment, and the center of her world. She delighted in celebrating birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings, vacations and even the ordinary moments that so often become life's most treasured memories. As the matriarch of the family, she carried that role with pride, always making sure everyone felt welcomed, loved, and special.
Pam had a personality that was impossible to ignore. Whether surrounded by lifelong friends or people she had just met, everyone gravitated to her. Not because she sought attention, but because her joy, warmth, humor, and genuine interest in others drew people to her. Her vibrant personality, joyful spirit, and genuine love for people left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her. She never met a stranger, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and had a contagious laugh that made people want to stay just a little longer. She was often the life of the party, and those who knew her will remember a woman who filled every room with laughter and left everyone feeling like they were family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Sue Moore; her father, Burl Winkle; her stepfather, Watie Moore; her sister, Nancy Chapman; and grandparents, Kimsey and Clara Wood.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty years, Lynn Smith; her sons and daughters-in-law; her five beloved grandchildren; her cherished nieces and nephews and their families; along with extended family, treasured friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.. at Moore Southlawn Chapel, with Reverend Deron Spoo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Alzheimer's Association - Oklahoma chapter, Donate Here <https://www.alz.org/oklahoma>. You can also send a donation in Pam's memory to Beehive Homes of Glenpool, 12570 S. Vancouver Ave, Glenpool, OK 74033.
Though we grieve today, we do not grieve without hope. We thank God for the gift of Pam's remarkable life, the love she shared, and the countless memories she leaves behind. We entrust her into the loving and merciful hands of God, finding comfort in His compassion, His faithfulness, and the hope that He alone provides. May her legacy of love and devotion to family continue to shape generations to come.
"The LORD's loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 'The LORD is my portion,' says my soul, 'Therefore I have hope in Him.'" Lamentations 3:22-24
