Obituary

The life of Pansy Eileen Long Dec 7, 1921 to Oct 13, 2021

Pansy Eileen Long was born in Webster County, Mo to John Samuel and Ada Francis Bingaman on December 7, 1921. She was the youngest of 10 children in this Missouri farm family. Her 6 brothers and 3 sisters all preceded her in death.

During her school days, Pansy excelled in her studies. She was the Valedictorian of her High School class and was awarded a scholarship to Southwestern Missouri State and a scholarship to Springfield Business College. Being the practical person, we all know she was, she went to business college so she could finish quickly and go to work.

While in Springfield, she met and fell in love with a young soldier from Camp Leonard Wood on her 20th birthday. Which also happened to be the infamous December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor. On May 3, 1942, Pansy and Chester E. Long were married in Marshfield, MO. This union continued until 1991 when Chet was taken to Heaven. This marriage produced to daughters, Kathryn Eileen and Kristina Sue.

For her working life, Pansy was employed by Sears, JC Penney's, Shell Oil and ended her career as the Executive Secretary to the Owner and President of Industrial Uniform Company in Tulsa. A position she held for many years. Upon retirement Chet and Pansy enjoyed their place at Grand Lake boating and socializing with friends and family.

Pansy was a devout Baptist and member of Skelly Drive Baptist Church in Tulsa for many years. She worked in the office for 13 years, was a Sunday School teacher, part of the Prayer Chain and WMU. She loved the Lord and loved her church. She was raised going to tent meetings and country churches, playing guitar and singing in the choir. Her knowledge of the Bible was unmatched.

Pansy has bequeathed a great legacy to her girls and their families. She left this world knowing four generations beyond herself. This includes two daughters Kathryn Rose and Kristina Long; four grandchildren (one of which is deceased); seven great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Her love and the pride in her family of course carried over to their spouses, always incorporated as "hers".

That's what I call a life well lived.
