Obituary

Pat R. Webb,94, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024 in Glenpool,Oklahoma. Pat was born January 24, 1930 in Greenville, Texas to William Henry Ibbotson and Lillie Louise Ford. William, a superintendent and Lillie a teacher in the Greenville school system, married in 1912 in Commerce, Texas. Pat was the youngest of six children. At her birth, her brothers were Harry Ford, age 17, William Henry, age 14, James Thomas, age 12,David F., age 8, and Bobby Loyd, age 2. Pat was christened Gwendolyn, but being the only girl and growing up closest to her youngest brother Bobby, everyone always called her Pat.

Pat had the opportunity to receive her secondary education through a preparatory program at Texas A&M-Commerce, then known as East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. She greatly enjoyed this experience, and the opportunity to attend the college after high school graduation. During college, she played in the college orchestra and served as a president of the Kalir Club, a popular campus women's club that was started in 1923. Pat graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1950.

Pat met Bob Webb during college, and they married in 1950 in Texarkana, Arkansas. Bob also received degrees in education and they moved to Port Neches, Texas to begin their careers teaching elementary school. Pat enjoyed teaching and loved her first grade students. They eventually moved to Arlington, Texas when Bob went to work in the Aerospace industry. Pat continued teaching until having children of her own- daughter Robin and son David. After moving to Oklahoma in 1968, Pat held several positions as a receptionist with energy related businesses. She was also active in the Disciples of Christ Christian Church.

Pat had a love and appreciation for music, which she passed on to her children. She thoroughly enjoyed flower gardening and landscaping and attended many local garden shows with her daughter. She could frequently be found at the local nurseries shopping for plants. Over the years at several houses, she and Bob planted and cared for extensive flower beds. Bob lovingly supported her gardening habit and had a favorite saying about it: "There is not a bush worth keeping if hasn't been relocated at least 3 times." She also loved artificial flower arranging and decorating her home, especially at the holidays. Before her eyesight failed, she enjoyed playing bridge, oil painting and reading.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. Webb and her five brothers and sisters-in-law. Pat is survived by her daughter Robin Aufleger and husband George of Tulsa, her son David M. Webb of Claremore, granddaughter Ashley Hanchett and husband David of Claremore, grandson Robert Webb and wife Ashley of Bixby, three great grandchildren Andrew, Esther and Caleb Hanchett, and many nieces and nephews.

Pat loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. We are thankful for the many happy gatherings we had over the years. We also express our great appreciation to the staff at Beehive Homes of Glenpool for their exceptional kindness and to A-Vow hospice for their excellent care and support.
