Obituary

Patricia "Pat" M. Gaither passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Tulsa. She was born August 1st, 1947 to John and Margaret Hoggatt in Tulsa, OK.

Pat's family lived both in Owensboro, KY and Sand Springs, OK during her childhood. She graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs in 1965. Pat attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah OK and later graduated from Tulsa Technology Center with a certification as a Certified Dietary Manager. She served as Dietary Manager at Leisure Village and Ambassador Manor for more than a decade at both locations. After retiring from the nursing facilities, she worked at the Diamond Secret jewelry store and later at Walmart in the jewelry department.

Pat married in 1966 and had three children. She was always involved and interested in whatever her children and grandchildren were doing. Pat loved participating in concerts, ballgames, races, birthdays graduations and holidays. She loved photography and took pictures of anything she thought was pretty. Her favorite time of year was the fall--looking at and collecting the leaves. She loved to sit in a lawn chair and have the leaves fall around her. On car trips, she would make friends and family pull over so she could pick up pretty leaves. Pat also liked traveling to see family and road trips with her brother and his wife. Her favorite trip was to Mount Rushmore. She loved TV and sports and movies. She loved any ballgame, whether it was baseball, basketball, football and even golf. It made no difference whether it was pro or college, she loved it and had favorite players for which she rooted.

Pat collected recipes from everywhere. She had multiple notebooks scattered around her apartment with all kinds of recipes that she had hand written. She loved to cook and everyone enjoyed her cooking! Pat was creative and had flair in doing crafts of all sorts. She painted, colored, and had a gift for drawing and poetry. She decorated and dressed up for holidays, enjoyed flower arranging and much more. She loved watching movies - especially the action shoot'em up movies and war movies. One of her favorite things was to go out to dinner with friends and family. She had numerous notebooks full of not only recipes, but letters to family and friends. Pat wrote her thoughts and feelings down and wrote many motivational notes to herself. "Generosity has a grace all its own your heart is very giving and mine is very grateful" as jotted in one of the many notebooks. She always made things special for her family and friends, worried for us and loved us. Her ultimate goal was to love and be loved by her family and friends.

Pat was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Hoggatt of Sand Springs. She is survived by her three children, Carie Randell of Tulsa, Derrick Gaither and his wife, Kandy of Coweta, Sara Gaither Embrey and her husband, Doug Embrey of Tulsa, adopted daughter, Chantelle Hinds of Tulsa; brother, Richard "Dickie" Hoggatt and his wife, Cathy of Locust Grove OK; 3 grandchildren, Houston Gaither of Tulsa, Lauren Gaither of Coweta and Katie Sweeney of Tulsa; best friend and adopted sister, Dorothy Checotah of Tulsa; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
