Obituary

Patricia Ann (Wagner) Helberg was born on December 11, 1937 in Tulsa, Ok. She passed away on June 8, 2026 in Tulsa at the age of 88. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Maxiene Wagner; brother, Dale Wagner and beloved husband, Richard Lawrence Helberg. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Cindy Helberg of Skiatook, OK and daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Tammy Moss of Overland Park, KS. And, her cherished grandchildren, Mitch and Matt Helberg and Hallie and Sadie Moss, sister-in-law Sue Wagner.

Pat grew up in Prague, OK and lived down the street from her grandparents. She told stories of sneaking off to their house and her grandmother sewing a new outfit with matching bow. Otherwise, she would have been in trouble for leaving the house in pajamas. They moved to Tulsa before Pat started school and has lived there the entirety of her life. She attended Will Rogers High School where she played the violin. Pat shared fun stories of her friendly competitions with David Gates for "First Chair" in the high school orchestra.

Grace Lutheran Church was so much of her life. She was baptized, confirmed and married there. She also witnessed the marriage of her children, the baptisms of her grandchildren and her 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Grace Lutheran.

On March 8, 1957, she married the love of her life, Richard Helberg, at Grace Lutheran Church. The same place where they met and spent so much time throughout their life. They enjoyed travel, dinner parties, holiday festivities and socializing with their church group.

Pat began a long career with JC Penney's in the giftwrap and layaway department, where she met her life-long best friend Patsy Garner. Pat retired from JC Penney's after 35+ years.

Rick was born in 1958 and Tammy in 1964. Pat was the most devoted wife and mother. Her family always came first and was the center of her world. Pat was devoted to Richard and made sure he was always taken care of. Dinner was on the table at 6:00 every night... she was an amazing cook and housekeeper. Before anyone was up in the morning, she would have her hair, makeup, especially lipstick (Revlon's Cherries in the Snow), jewelry, color-coordinated outfit on and most of the house cleaned. She was the perfect mix of love, sass, and fun.

She loved celebrating all holidays and abundantly decorating for each-or just ended up keeping her beloved Department 56 Snow Village houses out all year round!. Holiday meals always included every single favorite dish of her grandchildren's. And because of her gift wrapping experience and beautifully decorated house, Christmas at the Helberg home looked straight out of a Hallmark movie.

As much as she loved giving presents, she also loved receiving them. Anytime it was a celebration for her with presents, she would say, "well... get them over here!!" She found joy in such simple things: a visit, a phone call, family dinners... anything that connected her to her loved ones. She always had a smile on her face and lit up when she saw you. Pat captured all these special moments with her disposable Kodak cameras (sometimes your face wasn't included but the photo was still a treasure).

Pat never missed an event of any kind that involved her children or grandchildren. She was always present at school programs, ceremonies, birthday parties, sporting events, dance recitals and cheer competitions. She always made them feel so special and celebrated. Everyone's biggest cheerleader! Pat was an especially proud grandmother aka Grandma, Maga and Terminator Grammer! She loved spending time with them: sleepovers, movie nights and Live PD watch parties... always with snacks, sweet treats, and candles burning.

When grandkids were not around, Pat and Richard enjoyed a punctual 4:30 cocktail while watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

For a such a tiny woman with size 4 feet, she had such a big heart. She created a beautiful family, leaving an immense, everlasting legacy of love.
