Patricia (Willey) Hinds was born on December 10, 1932 in Rochester, New York, to Albert S. Willey and Ruth (Crandall) Willey. She departed this life on Friday, April 1, 2016, at peace and surrounded by her family.
Pat graduated from Syracuse University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and proceeded to work in the textile industry in New York City for three years. She met the love of her life, Manuel John Alvarado Hinds (Manny), in Lake Placid, New York and they were married in Rochester, NY in 1956. Manny's career in the Air Force led them to live all over the world; their first daughter, Kathryn, was born in 1958 in New York City, followed by their son, Mark, who was born in San Antonio in 1960, and lastly their daughter, Janet, was born in 1962 at Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan. Pat and Manny moved the family to Tulsa in 1967 when Manny retired from the Air Force after ten years of service.
Pat spent her adult life taking care of her family and her home. She also volunteered at St. John's Medical Center, where her husband served as a general surgeon, for many years. She enjoyed traveling, painting, playing bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by: her husband, Manuel Hinds of Tulsa; her sister, Electa Ann Cook of Independence, Missouri; her daughters, Kathryn Adams and husband Jim of Kellyville and Janet Swan and husband Steve of Tulsa; her son, Mark Hinds, of Afton, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Angela Sandlin Barbour and husband Robert of Norman, Amy Sandlin of Tulsa, and David Swan of Tulsa; her great-grandchildren Andrew and Caitlyn Barbour of Norman; and many nieces and nephews, including nephew Rod Alvarado of Albrightsville, PA who lived with them for almost four years and was like a son to them.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at The Chateau at Montereau as well as the nurses with St. John Hospice for taking such excellent care of Pat.
