Patrick Nolan Wright, known as Pat, Patrick, Dink, and Nolan to Mary Alice, his wife of 67 years, was born on July 6, 1933. He was the second of three children born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Donald Porter Wright and Marguerite Jones Wright.
Pat enjoyed spending time with his family, especially weekends at Grand Lake and family vacations. He also relished traveling around the world with his loving wife, Mary. The Wrights spent many Christmas break trips skiing in Colorado. Pat also enjoyed the beach in Hawaii. You could always count on Pat to ride rollercoasters with his family, his last at Disney World in October 2022, when he rode the Guardian of the Galaxy ride at the age of 89. Pat also loved spending time with his family at Grand Lake, and especially enjoyed towing his grandchildren on "Big Mable" behind his boat, often knocking the older grandchildren who could swim into the lake. Pat firmly believed that you should not buy something if you didn't have the money and that having ice cream everyday helped him live as long as he did!
Pat graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1953. Pat served in the Army during the Korean War for two years. Afterwards, he returned to Tulsa and worked at First National Bank where he met his wife Mary whom he married in Wetumka, Oklahoma on January 18, 1957. Pat and Mary had two children, Patrick Nolan Wright, Jr., who preceded Pat in death and Lisa Kay Wright Coronado.
Pat then served in the National Guard for eight years, while earning his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After graduating from college he worked for Cities Service before beginning work at IBM as a systems engineer, later joining the IBM sales team.
In 1972, while still working for IBM, he and Mary bought the Virginia Lee Apartments, providing affordable housing for individuals in east Tulsa to this day.
Pat and Mary and their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren enjoyed traveling and spent many holidays and celebrations together over the years.
Patrick will be missed for his loving nature; he was a rock that we could all depend on, a smile that would lighten the room, and bright blue eyes that lit up when he saw his loved ones.
Pat passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2024, from heartbreak, after losing his wife four weeks and one day prior. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Wright Coronado and her husband, Melchor Coronado, Jr. Pat is also survived by four grandchildren, Shanan Haddox and her husband Danny, Misty Northam and her husband Brent, Noah Patrick Coronado, and Jonah Jose Coronado.
