Patsy Sue Story September 19, 1936 - June 15, 2025

Patsy Sue Story, age 88, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 15, 2025, at 1:09 p.m. She was surrounded by love as she entered her eternal home. Born on September 19, 1936, in Springdale, Arkansas, to a large and humble family, Patsy's life was a testament to faith, resilience, and unconditional love.

Growing up in modest circumstances, Patsy learned early the importance of hard work and the strength that comes from perseverance. One of many siblings in a home with little material wealth, she never let poverty define her. As a child, she walked along railroad tracks to school each day, showing the determination that would characterize her life. Despite the challenges she faced, she radiated kindness and a sense of hope that could not be dimmed.

Her faith was the cornerstone of everything she did. As a young girl, she began attending church on her own, drawn to the comfort and purpose she found in her relationship with God.

At just 13 years old, she walked alone to the altar at her church and publicly committed her life to Christ - a moment that would shape every decision and every relationship she would have from that day forward.

At age 18, Patsy met Willett Wilson Story, a young Marine who had just returned from Korea. Their meeting was nothing short of divine appointment. Willett was drawn to Patsy's warmth, strength, and spirit, and the two quickly became inseparable. Their love blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted 71 years. Through the decades, they built a life rooted in faith, love, and shared service - a marriage that served as a model of enduring devotion for everyone who knew them.

Willett, a pastor for over 30 years, and Patsy were deeply embedded in their church community. Their commitment to the Lord and their dedication to serving others was evident in every aspect of their lives. Together, they led by example, offering their time and hearts to the church, making a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Patsy's journey in education began with a passion for children and a calling to make a difference. She earned her master's degree in Special Education and went on to teach for more than 30 years, dedicating herself to students with special needs. Her patience, compassion, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child left a lasting impact on countless lives. Her classroom was more than just a place of learning - it was a place of belonging and encouragement.

Even after retirement, Patsy continued to give of herself. She and Willett volunteered faithfully at the John 3:16 Mission and The Coffee Bunker, serving meals, offering kindness, and building community with Tulsa's most vulnerable populations. Her generosity of spirit knew no bounds. She gave without hesitation and loved without condition.

Patsy was also an active member of the Kappa Kappa Lota Professional Teachers Association, where she once served as president. In every role she took on - whether in her professional life, her volunteer work, or her personal relationships - she led with humility, grace, and quiet strength.
Though life brought its share of sorrow, including the heartbreaking loss of her only child, her beloved son, in a motorcycle accident in 2003, Patsy's faith never wavered. She turned her grief into purpose, pouring her love into her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was instrumental in their lives - not just as a grandmother, but as a mentor, a role model, and a guiding light. Her wisdom, gentle humor, and endless support shaped their paths in ways that words cannot fully express.

Patsy was a cornerstone of her church community, participating in numerous ministries and fellowship groups throughout her life. She found her greatest joy in serving others and glorifying Christ in all she did. Her heart, her home, and her arms were always open.

She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments, but for her character: a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, fierce love, and enduring kindness. She never turned away from anyone in need. Her door was always open, her coffee pot always full, and her prayers never-ending.
Patsy Sue Story's funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Jenks Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. All who knew and loved Patsy are welcome to attend and celebrate her extraordinary life.

Her presence in our lives was a blessing beyond measure. Her absence will be felt deeply, but we rejoice in knowing she is at peace in the arms of her Savior, reunited with her beloved son, and hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Her light will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
