Obituary

Paul Edward Stewart, 75, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026. Born in Champaign, Illinois, Paul was raised in Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Oil City Area High School. Paul's Christian faith became the foundation of his life. At the age of sixteen, after attending a Billy Graham film at First Baptist Church in Oil City, Pennsylvania, he made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. That decision shaped the course of his life and inspired his lifelong commitment to serving others with kindness, compassion, and humility. After attending college, Paul chose to enlist in the United States Army during the Vietnam era rather than wait to be drafted. He served honorably for three years, including service with the Airborne at Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his military service, he worked in his father's bakery business in Colorado before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1981. Paul later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to begin a new chapter in life. There he met Joetta "Jo" Seals at First Baptist Church in downtown Tulsa. Together they built a family and welcomed their only son, Stephen. Although Paul and Jo divorced when Stephen was young, they remained friends and committed co-parents, continuing to treat one another with kindness and respect throughout the rest of Paul's life. Their shared love for their son remained a constant, and in his final days, Jo was able to visit Paul one last time. Believing that serving others was part of his calling, Paul devoted his professional life to helping people through Shadow Mountain Institute, the Tulsa County Juvenile Bureau, and ultimately the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, where he retired as a Case Manager III after many years of faithful public service. Whether through his profession, his faith, or his friendships, Paul found great purpose in helping others and quietly making a difference in their lives. Outside of work, Paul found joy in riding motorcycles, caring for his beloved dogs, watching movies, and meticulously maintaining his vehicles. He helped establish the Arkansas Rally within the Triumph Bonneville community, creating friendships and traditions that continue today. More than anything, Paul was known for his kindness. Friends from every season of his life consistently described him as one of the kindest people they had ever known. In his personal testimony, Paul wrote that his desire was to "seek to be like Jesus in everything that I do." Those who knew him would later remember him in remarkably similar terms: kind, generous, compassionate, and always willing to help.

His faith was not simply something he believed-it was something he quietly lived.

Paul is survived by his loving son, Stephen Stewart; his sister, Carol Lund; his nephews, Michael Lund and Brian Lund; his niece, Kelsey Bahadursingh and her two sons; and a large extended family of cherished friends from his church, the Triumph motorcycle community, and his beloved neighborhood, whose lives he touched through years of friendship, fellowship, and adventure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Wayne Stewart and Nancy Rose Stewart. Paul will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Those who knew Paul will remember his gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, willingness to help others, love for motorcycles and dogs, and the quiet example he set throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family, friends, and countless lives he touched.
