Peggy Joan (Cornwell) Gravitt was born on November 2, 1934, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Paul and Bonnie Cornwell. She passed away surrounded by the love of a life well lived, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of devotion to family, faith, and community.

Peggy grew up in Oklahoma City, where she attended Classen High School before continuing her education at the University of Oklahoma. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility. At just 16 years old, she began working at Streets of Oklahoma alongside her mother. This first job grew into a long and meaningful career. Peggy became a longtime employee of Streets of Oklahoma, eventually serving as store manager at the Penn Square Mall location, where she was respected for her leadership and dedication.

Peggy later moved to Tulsa, where she opened and managed The Stork's Nest, a maternity shop that reflected her caring spirit and entrepreneurial drive. Through her work, she supported countless families during special seasons of their lives. She later became a top employee at Dillard's at Woodland Hills Mall, where her professionalism and commitment were equally admired. Peggy's leadership, reliability, and warmth left a lasting impression on both coworkers and customers.

Outside of work, Peggy found great joy in her many hobbies. She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, and quilting, often creating beautiful handmade items for those she loved. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge several times a month with dear friends. One of her greatest joys was square dancing, where she met the love of her life, Lee Gravitt. Peggy and Lee were married on May 24, 2004, in Eureka Springs, beginning a treasured chapter filled with companionship and love.

Peggy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and lived her faith through service. She volunteered for 16 years and 4 months, contributing 3,337 hours at Saint Francis Hospital, giving her time, compassion, and care to others. Her generosity and willingness to serve were a true reflection of her heart.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents, Paul and Bonnie Cornwell; and her sister, Patty Waters. She is survived by her three daughters: Cathy Swadener of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Carroll Ann Yoder (Bret) of Pittsboro, Indiana; and Cheryl Russell of Perry, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and countless other beloved family members and friends.

Peggy will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication, her love of family, and her generous heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were blessed to share in her life. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

A memorial service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on February 14 at Moore Funeral Home, Southlawn Chapel.
