Peggy Lou Nelson, 92, of Sand Springs, passed away on October 29, 2021 at Avanti Senior Living in Flower Mound, Texas. She was the widow of Marvin Dale Nelson. They shared 56 years of marriage together.
Born on February 6, 1929, in Wagoner, she was the daughter of Lester and Ruth Weidman. Peggy spent her entire childhood in Wagoner and was very involved in band. She was a Twirling Drum Major in high school and received many awards for her talent. She graduated from Wagoner High School, in May of 1947. After graduation Peggy moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas where she worked for the gas company.
In 1960, Peggy decided to take some courses at the University of Oklahoma where she met her husband, Marvin Nelson. They were married at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on October 1, 1960. She and Marvin moved around their first few years of marriage before settling in Tulsa. Peggy loved gardening and planting flowers. Anywhere she lived, she transformed the space with beautiful gardens. Peggy was very artistic and loved drawing, painting, and dancing. Church was also very important to her, and she was a dedicated member of Sandusky Avenue Christian Church.
Peggy worked alongside her husband, Marvin, at their business, Monitron Corporation. They also ran a cattle ranch in Northeastern Oklahoma, until retiring in 2008. Peggy loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very deeply.
Peggy is survived by her children Marvin Dale Nelson II and his wife Melissa Marlene Nelson of Sand Springs; Erik Thomas Nelson and his wife Telisha Rene Nelson of Tulsa; Janet Ruth Thompson and her husband John Allen Thompson of Flower Mound, TX; along with her six grandchildren, Kathryn Elsbeth Wise and her husband Nick Alvin Wise, Ashley Nicole Thompson, Hanna Kristine Nelson, Jacob Erik Nelson, Brittany Elaine Thompson, and Anna Catherine Nelson; three great-grandchildren, Alice Lynn Wise, Riley Rider Wise, and Temperance Beatrice Wise; and her brother, Ronald Dale Weidman of Mission, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Ruth Lorene Weidman; her husband, Marvin Dale Nelson; her daughter, Linda Lou Nelson; and her brother, James Doyle Weidman.
Viewing will be held at Moore Funeral Home located at 1908 S. Memorial Dr., Tulsa, OK 74112 from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 5 with Visitation from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6 at Moore Funeral Home at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery located at 1200 N.
