Newcombe – Peggy, 93, died at home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Sunday, November 23, 2014. She was born in Caddo County in southern Oklahoma on November 9, 1921, the daughter of Jesse and Eva Burch. She graduated from Fletcher High School and was attending college when she married her childhood sweetheart, Jack Newcombe. They were married for 63 years. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2006.
Peggy was a member of several Bridge clubs, a long time member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, and loved her church circle group. She was also an avid TU Basketball fan. She loved traveling the world with her husband, sister, and other close friends. She spent many hours watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports, dance, and perform in recitals. They were the joy of her life.
Peggy will be lovingly missed, but her wonderful attitude for life and her caring qualities in being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend will be remembered forever with us.
Peggy is survived by her son Jack A. Newcombe of Melbourne Beach, Florida; her two daughters Anne and Jill and their husbands Bob and David, all of Tulsa; her seven grandchildren and their spouses; and her nine great grandchildren; her sister Jackie Hammerschmidt, and other loving family.
