Lillian Peggy Turney, 99, passed away early evening on August 17, 2022 in Tulsa Ok. Peggy was the name she always went by to all her family and friends. She also went by Mimi, and Aunt Peggy. She lived at the Baptist Village of Owasso for the last 8 years and lived most of her life in Tulsa.
Peggy was born September 26, 1922 at Blackgum Mountain, OK near Vian, OK. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband Joe Roscoe Turney, whom she married on August 10, 1957, a daughter Barbara Jane, her parents Eulas Grant Cato and Ethel Pearl Risley Cato, her brother William and sisters Lola Mae, Viola, and Bessie.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Joann Berg of Kellyville, OK, two granddaughters Denise Phillips and Michelle Burke, both of Tulsa, two sister's Sally McNabb of Owasso, OK who is 101 and Alice Miller of Kiefer, OK., who is 91, as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great- grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews, and many friends whom she loved like family.
Peggy retired from the Woolco department store that used to be in Tulsa located at Prospect and Antioch Road at the Gladstone location. Woolco was a chain of discount department stores founded by Woolworth Company. She worked as the Personnel Manager and loved her job. She would hire kids from her church and give them their first job. Peggy was an active member at Tulsa Baptist Temple for many years and made many friends there. Peggy was adventurous and loved to travel, listen to gospel music, read her Bible, and loved animals.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Monday, August 22, 2022 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
