Peggy Jo Monyhan entered into Heaven to be with her Lord on July 12, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 93.
Peggy was born on February 20, 1933, in Danville, Arkansas, to Julian Courtney Lusby and Edith Molene (Walker) Lusby. She attended Central High School in Tulsa, where she graduated in 1950. In 1951, Peggy married Daniel Nieto. After enduring the heartbreak of three miscarriages, they welcomed their son, Daniel Clint Nieto, in September 1959.
Throughout her early years, Peggy faithfully served her church by teaching Sunday school, working in the nursery, and participating in various educational ministries. In the early 1970s, she became president of the Oklahoma Christian College Women's Association (OCWA), where she coordinated fundraising efforts to help provide scholarships and assist with tuition costs.
Peggy had a deep love for the Lord, and her unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She also had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world, visiting many countries throughout Europe. To Peggy, everywhere she went was an adventure, and she approached life with a joyful spirit, curiosity, and gratitude. She treasured her family and friends, always offering kindness, encouragement, and a caring heart. Her legacy of faith, love, and service will continue to live on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husbands, Daniel Nieto and Allen Yowell; her parents, Julian and Edith Lusby; and her sister, Kathryn Sue Lins.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Monyhan; son, Dan Nieto; her grandson, Daryl Nieto; her granddaughter, Danna Nieto; her great-grandson, Aiden Nieto; her great-granddaughter, Laila Nieto; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation for Peggy will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore Southlawn Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at The Park Church of Christ Chapel in Tulsa. A graveside service will immediately follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow.
