Polito (Paul) G. Cantu, Jr. passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 79.
Paul was born on June 4, 1945, in Beeville, TX. After graduating high school and attending junior college, in 1966 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Shortly after that, he met Connie Crowder at the library at Luke AFB, AZ and they were married in 1969. He was a man of immense patriotism and was proud to serve his country in Vietnam from 1968-1969. After completing a 23-year career in the Air Force, he went back to college and graduated from The University of Central Oklahoma. He spent the rest of his retirement years umpiring softball and working as a brick mason. His love for family, his sense of humor, and his beautiful smile will be missed immensely.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Polito Cantu, Sr. and Alma Cantu. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Connie Cantu, his daughter Michelle (Cantu) Thompson and her husband Kenneth Thompson and grandchildren, Jewel Thompson and Harrison Thompson; his son Polito Cantu III and fiance Julie Underwood and granddaughter, Mercedes (Cantu) Loftus and her husband Ty Loftus. He is also survived by his sister Alma (Cantu) Davila and her husband Tereso Davila as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be held, with military honors, at Fort Gibson National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 1:30 pm.
