Prentiss E. Carter, longtime Tulsa resident passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021. He was born in Cushing, Ok October 25, 1932, to Orlove and Ical Hunsaker Carter. Prentiss married Phyllis (Harmon) Carter on July 11, 1954; they celebrated 65 years of marriage together.
Prentiss worked for Public Service Company until his retirement in 1992. Prentiss loved the Lord and spent many years serving in the church as a deacon, working on countless construction jobs with the Baptist disaster unit, also serving with the disaster unit after 9-11. Prentiss loved various kinds of game hunting every year with family. Family was everything to Prentiss; he loved his sons and grandkids beyond measure. Prentiss was a huge St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He was always up for a trip to watch a ballgame! He loved to travel with family and friends. Prentiss's passing leaves a huge void in our lives, but our memories live on. He has left a lasting legacy in his Son's and grandkids that will live on through all of them for generations to come.
Prentiss is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Ann Carter; grandparents, James and Otilie Carter, Arthur and Mary Hunsaker; parents Orlove and Ical Hunsaker Carter; brother Dale Carter, sister Tela Simon Baker; brother in laws, Morris Henager, Kenneth Beagle, Dave Rogers and Vern Simon. He is survived by his three sons Gary Carter and wife Tiffany; Larry Carter and wife Cathie; James Carter; brother Rex Carter and wife Gladys; sisters Barbara Henager, Edna Beagle, Margaret Rogers, Patricia Hobson and husband Kenneth; sister in laws Esther Carter and Alice Jeanne Bolton; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Viewing will be at the church prior to the service at 10:30AM Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs on Friday July 16, 2021.
