After a cancer battle, Randy E. Thrower passed away at age 76.
He was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Bill and Wynona Thrower along with his sister Donna Maxwell who preceded him in death.
Randy was a decorated naval combat veteran of the Vietnam War, serving two tours of duty on the destroyer U.S.S. Orleck. He later worked as a welder at Industrial Vehicles International for more than thirty years, and as a senior, he also worked at Walmart in Jenks, OK.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed countless hours at several of Oklahoma's wonderful lakes. He loved the Beatles and Tom Petty. He had a wicked sense of humor, loved ice cream, but what defined him most was his family.
Randy is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Barbara, of Tulsa; his son Jason Thrower, and daughter-in-law Lanna, and twin granddaughters Gabrielle and Stella of Pond Creek, Ok; daughter Karen Walker, son-in-law Stephen and granddaughter Elena of Tulsa; and daughter Sarah Thrower and son-in-law Jason Patteson of Collinsville, Ok. Randy was "Pappy" to his three granddaughters, whom he adored and vice-versa.
Contributions can be made in Randy's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis. Locally, Season's Hospice took excellent care of Randy and is funded through contributions.
