Raymond Larry Anderson, also known as Raymond Shakir, was born November 3, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Verda Lee Anderson and Leroy Cormit Anderson. He was the second child born to this union.

He enjoyed making wooden banks for his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family.
