Raymond William (Bill) Peterson passed away peacefully Dec. 17, 2017 in League City, Texas at the age of 92. Bill was born September 14, 1925 in Monticello Utah to Dora M. Peterson and Edward S. Peterson.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps while he was a senior in High School, still taking classes to graduate on time. He was a graduate of Will Rogers High School class of 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1948 with a Business Degree. After graduation, Bill married Margaret Pitcher, his sweetheart from Junior High. They had 63 wonderful years together and raised three children Bill, Bob and Mary.
Bill worked at Dowell in Tulsa before moving his family to Houston, Tx in 1968 to pursue an advertising career with Rives, Dyke, Young & Rubicam. Bill and his wife, Margaret returned to Tulsa in 1979 to care for their aging parents, where he worked for Tulsa Litho Co. until his retirement in 1989.
Bill was an avid Astronomer in his spare time. He even built his own telescope in 1958 in his garage and was a member of the Tulsa Astronomy Club. He was instrumental in helping build the Observatory in Mounds, Oklahoma in the 1990's.
After Margaret's death in 2011, Bill moved to League City, Texas with his daughter Mary and her family until the time of his death. Proceeded in death by his loving wife, Margaret. Survived by his daughter, Mary Caruth and husband, Mark of League City, TX, his sons
Bill Peterson of Houston, Tx and Bob Peterson of Dallas, Tx; his grandchildren, who adored him, Kyle (wife Sheridan), Kaci, Ryan & Brittany and one great granddaughter Aubrey. Bill was also survived by the most wonderful and loving caregiver, Betty Holloway.
