Obituary

Raymond M. Surber "Grandpa" "Papa", 81, of Tulsa, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 8, 2021. He was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1940, in Pine Bluff, AR, to Raymond Leo Surber and Margaret Kathryn (Derrick) Surber. Raymond met the love of his life, Lindell Arlene (Sager) Surber, in Tulsa, OK, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God. They were married on Saturday, December 12, 1981, in Tulsa, OK, and were married 34 years, until she went to her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1958. Raymond was proud to have served as a Private First Class in the United States Army as a guard dog trainer. He was a hard worker, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier after 32 years. He did drywall work in which he learned this trade from his dad. Raymond enjoyed Bible study, fishing, traveling with Lindell; especially, to Hawaii, Memphis, TN and Graceland. He was a huge O.U. Football fan and Thunder basketball fan.
Raymond had a kind, gentle, giving spirit, and he valued friendships and relationships. He was a loving father, took great pride in his 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them, and attending their events. His greatest joy was being called PaPa and Grandpa! He always gave unconditional love and encouragement, and never hesitated to tell them how proud he was of them and how much he loved them.
Raymond's faith and love of God were the center of his life, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, for both his family and his Savior. He had a steadfast Christian faith in God, that never wavered under any circumstance, and it sustained him throughout his life. Raymond was a devoted member of Life Church in Catoosa, OK, where he enjoyed attending.
Raymond was a prayer warrior, and read his Bible daily. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul, and was a role model to his family and others as he walked out his Christian life. No matter what he was doing, he did it all, as if unto the Lord.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved wife, Lindell. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Surber of Tulsa, OK, and Chris Stewart and wife, Cindy, of Yale, OK; daughters, Teresa Bagwill and husband, Bobby, of Tulsa, OK, and Meshelle Rainwater and husband, Jack, of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Robert Surber of Sapulpa, OK, and Ronney Surber and wife, Patty, of Bixby, OK; and a lifetime of friends.
