Rayna Michelle Massie, 12, passed away from Covid complications on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Rayna was born in Tulsa, OK, on April 24th 2008 to Kimberly and Timothy Massie. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marilyn Taylor, and her father, Timothy Massie. Rayna is survived by her mother, Kimberly Massie; sister, Emma Massie; maternal grandparents Fred Taylor and Suzanne Reese; paternal grandparents Ron and Terry Massie; uncles Scott Taylor and Chris Massie; soon-to-be stepdad, James Snow; and bonus grandparents, Arlie and Phyllis Snow.
Anyone who spent much time with Rayna would learn a few things very quickly: She was beyond proud that she "kicked brain cancer's booty", she loved her trip to Disney World with her mom and sister before she got sick, and she got to meet Katy Perry and Nugget. You couldn't spend any time with her and not hear her singing a song or laughing about something. She loved her family fiercely, especially her dogs Magic and Bear, and her menagerie of stuffed animals, that she was never without.
Rayna was diagnosed with brain cancer in April 2015 and went through chemo, surgery and radiation, and was cancer-free ever since. Along the way, she developed fatty liver disease, which progressed in cirrhosis and she needed a liver transplant. Despite all her health struggles and setbacks, she never quit fighting, even at the very end. She fought Covid like a champ for over a week; but in the end, her immunosuppressed little body was tired and couldn't fight anymore. Rayna loved Jesus, so we know she is singing and dancing in the arms of our Savior, and she is in no more pain.
