Reba Nell Barker, 88, of Tulsa, OK, passed peacefully into her Heavenly Father's arms, her loving family at her side, on Thursday, July 7, 2022, and we're sure she did it with a shout of joy! She was born on September 16, 1933, in Eufaula, OK, to Earl Columbus Turner and Nola (Box) Turner. Reba was a Scrub Nurse and participated in the first hip replacement surgery in Tulsa. She married the love of her life, Roland Joe Barker, on October 10, 1953, in Stilwell, OK, and they shared a lifetime of love and adventures. She and Roland have been faithful, active members of Eastwood Baptist Church for 60 years, where she participated in various church activities; including, Kindergarten Sunday School teacher.
Central to Reba's life was her faith, and she would most want to be remembered for pointing others to Christ. From the time Reba began her walk with the Lord, until she took her last breath, she was joyously intentional about pointing others to Christ and encouraging them to fulfill God's call on their lives. People left Reba's presence uplifted by her words of love and inspiration. Reba saw value and beauty in every person she met. She had an unshakable faith, and a kind, generous, giving spirit. She enjoyed helping people, exemplified grace and love towards everyone and in everything she did, and no matter what she did, she did it all as unto the Lord. She valued her friendships and relationships and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always gave unconditional love and encouragement. She read her Bible daily, was a life-long prayer warrior, and many depended on her as an intercessor and someone they could come to in their time of need. Reba loved the Lord with her whole heart, and was a role model to her family and others, as she walked out her Christian life, and she leaves a lasting, loving legacy.
Always there with a loving heart and guiding hands, Reba will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have her in our lives. There is no doubt that Reba will be rewarded to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Reba was preceded in death by her parents; She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roland Joe Barker; sons Michael Barker and wife, Marty of Ft. Worth, TX, and Mark Barker of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren, Madalyn Wiseman and husband, Clement, Crystal Abernathy and husband, Nick, Channing Barker, Brandon Barker, and Caitlyn Barker; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Doris, Bonnie Batchelor, and Bobbie Babcock; and a lifetime of friends.
