A mother of two girls and a friend to many, Rebecca "Becky" Perle Garrett-Ruyle, aged sixty-nine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with her daughter, Michelle, by her side. The middle child of three girls, she was born on June 7, 1954, in Kansas, to the late Jerome Robert Garrett and Mary Karlene Carroll ("Kay"). Except for a few years in Kansas as a child, Becky lived her entire life in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Becky had an enthusiastic sense of humor, loved to laugh, and was quick witted and stubbornly strong. She was a fighter, a survivor, did what she wanted (just try to tell her otherwise), and always helped those in need in any way she was able.
No one can deny her love for chocolate, or her morning coffee, and she had an affinity for a great cheeseburger with a Coke or chocolate shake. Mom was a phenomenal cook, inquisitive, bright, and had the heart of an artist. She had a natural talent of playing the guitar, writing poetry, songs, and stories and was an avid collector of antiques, especially cobalt glass and Native American art. During her earlier years, if you had the energy to keep up, she enjoyed frequenting antique shops, garage sales, and secondhand stores with whomever would want to tag along.
Becky is survived and loved by her youngest daughter, Michelle Hibbs of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and granddaughter Kayla; her eldest daughter, Jenta Kunkel of Conroe, Texas; son-in-law Kurt Kunkel and grandchildren, Michael and Cadence.
Becky has requested to be cremated with no interment, ceremonies, or services held.
