Obituary

Richard (Dick) M. Boyd went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 3, 2026. Dick was born in Tulsa on September 30, 1940, to James Stuart and Eloise Boyd. His father was a local small business owner and later a banker. Dick grew up in Tulsa alongside his brother, Fred.

After graduating from Tulsa Central High School in 1958, Dick attended Oklahoma State University. There, he studied engineering, was an active member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and competed on the university bowling team. Following his graduation from OSU, Dick returned to his hometown and spent a year serving in the US Air Force. Upon completing his service in the military he began his career as an industrial engineer at the Rockwell/ Boeing plant near the airport. Dick remained a steady fixture there for 50 years, eventually retiring at the age of 75.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dick contributed to some of the most significant aerospace projects in history-from the Apollo missions that landed a man on the moon, to the B-1 Stealth Bomber and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

In 1965, Dick married the love of his life, Linda. Dick started his personal relationship with Jesus while in college and grew closer to the Lord through Bible studies with neighbors and others who became lifelong friends.

Dick and Linda joined Tulsa Bible Church in 1974, where he served faithfully as a deacon and on the missions committee. He was instrumental in supporting missionaries on every continent (except Antarctica). Anyone who spent time with Dick quickly realized his greatest excitement was seeing others come to know Christ.

Dick excelled during his final years. When Linda's health declined, Dick became her devoted, full-time caregiver. During this season, he modeled a profound commitment to his wife and passion for prayer and God's word for his family.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his brother, Fred; and his two daughters and sons-in-law, Jenna and Chris Zervas and Suzanne and Mike Schatzman. He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Zoe, Elle, Kit, Nash, and Tia (children of Jenna and Chris), and Cader, Judson, and Laynie (children of Suzanne and Mike).

A celebration of life service will be held at Tulsa Bible Church on May 15th at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Missions Fund at Tulsa Bible Church.
