Richard Grant Cooper was born March 8, 1934 on Statton Island, New York to Sidney and Lucille (Kyle) Cooper. He married S. Jane Edmondson in 1970. Richard attended the University of Kentucky receiving B.S. and M.S. degrees. He received a PhD in physiology from the University of Texas, Galveston. At the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Ia., he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery degree. Richard was an Assist. Prof. of Physiology at the University of Missouri and a research associate of the Space Sciences Research Center at the University of Missouri where he co-authored many scientific publications.
He was an Assist. Professor of physiology and pharmacology at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, la. He served as an assoc. professor of preclinical science, physiology, & pharmacology at the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. Richard Cooper was in private practice as a family physician for several years. After retirement, Richard volunteered in the Archives area of St. Francis Hospital. Earlier he volunteered at Neighbors Along the Line and the Salvation Army. He is a member of the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church.
Richard has two brothers: Jim Cooper & wife Diane of Reston, Va. And John Cooper and wife Linda of Lexington, Ky. He has several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Moore?s Southlawn. Service will be 1:30 P.M., Friday, November 8, 2013 at Kirk of the Hills.
