It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Eagon Cope on May 30, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 19, 1950, in Salina, Kansas, Richard was the beloved son of Robert Eagon Cope and Ethelynne Suzanne Cope.
Richard lived a life marked by integrity, creativity, and devotion to his family. He grew up alongside his two brothers, Robert Owen Cope and Ronald Norton Cope, forming bonds that would last a lifetime.
A graduate of Tulsa University, Richard pursued a career as a skilled electrical engineer, where his sharp intellect and tireless work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of his professional life, Richard found joy and expression as a talented jazz drummer, filling homes, gatherings, and hearts with rhythm and soul and traveling near and far.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Diane Cope, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they raised three cherished children: Michelle Landtroop, Jamie Harrell, and Eric Cope. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren-Cody Landtroop, Donovan Daubert, Caleb Landtroop, Mackenzie Newton, Emma Cope, Olivia Cope and Nikki Harrell-and two great-grandchildren, Tristan Harrell and Sophia Landtroop.
To know Richard was to know kindness, quiet strength, and a quick wit. Whether he was behind a drum set, solving a complex problem, or simply sitting with family, he brought a calming presence and thoughtful perspective to every moment.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Service for Richard's life will be held at Ridge Christian Church at 4010 west New Orleans St, Broken Arrow, OK 74011 on Friday June 6th 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
