Master Sergeant, Richard Lee Eddy, retired, age 83, passed peacefully from this life into Heaven on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Richard was born on March 14, 1943, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to Eldon Able Eddy and Mabel Enid Farmer. He was one of seven brothers-Raymond, Roger, Royal, Russell, Rasmoss, and Rodney-all of whom preceded him in death.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring on October 8, 1988, with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). His years of military service reflected dedication, discipline, and a deep commitment to his nation. Following his military career, he continued his strong work ethic as the assistant manager at Homeland Grocery Store in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he was known for his reliability and leadership.
He shared 38 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Kathleen Ann Eddy. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Richard later converted to the Catholic faith and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a Mason and valued the principles of brotherhood and charity.
Richard is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his two stepsons, Rev. Kenneth Ossman and his wife Lisa, and Wayne Ossman and his wife Sandi; as well as a large and loving family of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
His grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Joslynn Dees and her husband Dustin, and their children Elijah, Bailey, and Cabela; Alyssa Hughes and her husband Phillip, and their children Braden, Jackson, Madilyn, Kindsley, and Camden; Destiny Ossman and her husband Gaeb, and their children Isaiah, Gabby, and Aurora; Donovan Ossman, Trevor Ossman, and Sebastian Ossman; Ben Ossman and his wife Hannah, and their children Logan and Ezra; Alison O'Bryan and her husband Nate, and their daughter Avery; Hiliary Ossman; and Payton Donnell and Tanner Donnell.
