Obituary

Richard passed from this life on March 6, 2023, at home, with his wife and daughter at his side.
Richard was born to Gladys and Earl Kast at home on a small family farm in Richland County, Wisconsin in 1937, the oldest of 3 boys. His schooling started in a 1-room school, a 2-mile walk for the boys each morning. Richard graduated from Ithaca High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.
He met Sharon Stahlkopf in Madison, WI, and they married 6 months later and have been together for 63 years. They joyfully raised 3 wonderful children: Lisa, Trace and Eric. Living locations changed as the family followed Richard's wanderlust and desire for new adventure.
As a young man, Richard developed a life-long interest and significant skill level in photography. He used the expertise to operate a unique business, Action Ltd, specializing in sports car (SCCA) action photos. His customers included drivers all across the U.S. as well as some well known auto sports publications and racing celebrities. He was also a news photographer for a TV station in Rockford, IL.
During his later career, Richard worked as an advertising manager for Caterpillar Tractor Dealers in Green Bay WI and Indianapolis, IN, and for Oshkosh Truck Company in WI.
Sailing his 26-foot sailboat on Lake Winnebago provided many hours of family recreation and only increased his love for the water. Door County peninsula in Wisconsin, followed closely by Florida water locations, became the favorite vacation spots for the whole family.
A serious stroke in 1984 ended his work life and the ability to do many things, but did not dampen his love of family, his desire for knowledge, or enthusiasm for the Green Bay Packers!
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gladys Kast; son, Eric; brother, Jim Kast; parents-in-law, Milton and Emma Stahlkopf; brother-in-law, Jim Stahlkopf.
He is survived by wife, Sharon; daughter, Lisa (Jeffrey) Townes; son, Trace -both of Tulsa; grandson, Andrew Kast and granddaughter, Kelsey Kast both of Glenpool;
grandson, Coleman Townes of Wichita, KS; brother Jerry (Mary) Kast of Friendship, WI; sisters-in-law Alice Kast, Tensed ID and Patricia Stahlkopf, Green Bay, WI; nephews, Clifford, Earl, and Jason Kast, WI; nieces, Deanna, and Lori Kast and Amy Bliss, IN; Sarah Collins of Denmark, WI.
No services are scheduled. Private interment will be at Calvary cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2123 S Atlanta PI, #100, Tulsa, OK 74114, 918 744 6354, referencing Memorial, Richard Kast, in memory of Eric Kast.
