Richard Earl Lohmann, born December 22, 1922, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Parents
William Earl and Essie Layl Lohmann. Entered Army Air Corps in 1941 as an enlisted man and was commissioned second lieutenant. in October of 1942. Served five years during World War II and flew 35 combat missions in B-17?s and B-24?s over Germany with the 490th Bomb Group. Called back into the U. S. Air Force in 1951 during the Korean Conflict and served 2 ½ years as a electronic counter measurers officer. Following his discharge in 1945 he returned to Tulsa and attended the University of Tulsa. Worked for Redden Investment Company for 20 years and Southwest Packaging Company for 20 years. Dick loved his family and friends, his country, big band music and the game of golf. He flew his flag every day and was always up to date on local and world events. He joined Indian Hills Country Club in 1948, then Tulsa Country Club for 20 years and was still a member of Cedar Ridge Country Club which he joined at its inception in 1970. He was an active member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his parents and by his step-mother Dr. Idella Duff Lohmann. He is survived by his soul mate and wife Dr. Sue Wilson Lohmann; his children Jenifer Lohmann Matthews and husband Matt; Deborah Lohmann Williams and husband Gary; Mark Von Lohmann and wife Ann; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his beloved Kristen Allred LeForce. Dick was described by one of his friends as ?larger than life?. That he was. His family and friends knew that the essence of this man was a patriot to the core. A man who always honored and supported the many men and women who served and even gave their lives for the country he loved so fiercely. There is no greater love than to lay down one?s life.
Services will be in the Rose Chapel at Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Saturday, May 25 at 2:30 p.m. Honoring the life of Richard as Pallbearers will be John Paul, Joe Ihle, T.?Bert? Pollard, Bob Dugger, John McTague, Norm Welker, Kim Jones, Dr. Dean P.Van Trease and grandsons Richard Walford, Rikki Robinson and Stephen Farmer.
