Obituary

Richard Lowell "Rick" Cowley died on June 30, 2025. He was born October 21,1957 to Prescott and Betty Cowley and for seven cherished years, he was their only beloved child before proudly becoming a big brother to Robyn and Scott Cowley, just 15 months apart.
As the eldest sibling, Rick spent many summers caring for his younger brother and sister. He often took them to Sheridan Lanes Bowling Alley to bowl with lifelong friends Kurt and Chris Slagle and walked with them and the other neighborhood kids to the Summer Thursday Morning movies at the Boman Twin-always with a stop at TG&Y for candy.
Rick attended MacArthur Elementary, Whitney Junior High, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1976. He was active in sports, including wrestling, baseball, and football, and was especially proud to be part of the 9th grade Whitney Bears football team that won the City Championship. He also volunteered countless hours at Bear Stadium, supporting local youth baseball teams.
Rick continued his education at Will Rogers Junior College in Claremore and Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. During this time, he earned the nickname "Diamond" for the diamond pattern on his chaps he wore as a bull rider.
Rick was a Yankees fan and one of his favorite memories was attending a 2022 game in Kansas City with his siblings, sister-in-law, and nephews to watch the Yankees play the Royals. He loved family gatherings and was a proud and constant presence at graduations, weddings, and celebrations for his nieces and nephews.
Rick had a profound love for animals, especially his dog Bailey. He had a big heart and there was never a dog or cat that didn't fall in love with Rick!
Rick worked at HSM in Tulsa, a manufacturing company serving the automotive industry. As a Team Lead, he took pride in operating the cutting machine and valued the friendships he built with his coworkers.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister Robyn Cowley; nieces Elizabeth (Mitchell Scott) and Caroline (Ryan Shoemaker); his brother, Scott Cowley, and wife Hilary; nephews Thorn (Vielka), Chase (Sarah), Grant, and Preston Cowley; 6 great-nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and many dear friends and colleagues at HSM.
