Richard Ernest Schrum, Sr., 71, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born to Adam and Barbara (Blatchford) Schrum on April 11, 1945 in Edgeley, North Dakota.
He enlisted in the Army at age 17 for 6 years. Richard was an amateur boxer and coached boxing for Tulsa Indian Youth Council. He raced stock cars at the Tulsa Speedway and drove car #32. He worked for Pettibone, as well as having his own business, as a heavy equipment mechanic. Richard was also a Tulsa Auxiliary Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff for Tulsa County. And within last 15 years he was a member, service officer and chaplain of the American Legion.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents: Adam and Barbara; daughter: Richanda Schrum; mother of his children: Marcella A. Schrum; granddaughter: Kaylea Dawn Smith; sisters: Emmy and Marilyn and brother, Ervin.
He is survived by his children: Barbara Shope and husband Larry, Janet Moore and husband Wayne, Lisa Hinton and husband Jared, Rhonda Schrum and Richard Schrum; grandchildren: Will, Jerry, April, Krystalyn, Andrea, Wesley, Jenna, Josh, James, Jacob, Breanna, Katelyn and Austin; great grandchildren: Desirea, Destiny, Xavier, Daniel, Zoie, Elijah, Adrianna, Alauna, Tristan, Lilah, Chris, Norah, Richard and Rozalynn; siblings: Lois, Bobby, Elaine and Buck. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
