Obituary
Rick Virgil Burba passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the age of 71. Rick was born October 14, 1953 to Virgil O. and Helen L. (Coffield) Burba in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Rick graduated from Nathan Hale High School of Tulsa in 1971. After high school graduation, Rick attended Oklahoma State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Food Sciences. He remained an avid Oklahoma State Cowboy fan of all sports for the remainer of his life, rarely missing a game. After graduating college, he went on to careers with Safeway and later Ecolab where he worked as an account manager for the food and beverage division. Rick married Janet Hutton in 1998, and they went on to spend 27 wonderful years together.
Rick enjoyed simply spending time with his family and friends, especially watching his grandchildren play and swim in his pool. He also loved fishing and boating on the area lakes. In the latter years of his life, he experienced a renewed interest in his Christian faith and enjoyed his new church home at First Church of Owasso. His laid-back demeanor, except when OSU was losing, and his clever humor made him easily likeable. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Helen Burba. He is survived by his wife Janet Burba; his sister Janice Burba Gibson and her husband David; his son Christopher Burba and his wife Elizabeth; his son Brandon Harris and his wife Miranda; his daughter Jennifer Steely. His grandchildren, who called him Paw-paw, are Caleb, Adi, Isaac, Elias, Asher, and Eden Burba, Braden Hodges, and Kylah and Kasten Harris. He is also survived by his niece Jessica Gibson Wilson, her husband Christopher, and their son Benjamin Wilson.
The family will greet friends for visitation on September 29, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street. Funeral services will be held on September 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location with burial immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetary.
