It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rita Lynn Shatwell Daniels, 62, of Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 22, 2025.
Born on July 21, 1963 in Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rita was the daughter of former state senator, Bob R. Shatwell, and the late Carol L. Shatwell. She was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma (Class of 1981). She attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma (1982) and graduated from Southeastern State University, Durant, Oklahoma (Class of 2005) with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Social Service and Criminal Justice. After her graduation from Southeastern State University in Durant, Rita made her home in Durant and is Co-Founder, Owner and Operator of DanWell Companies, Durant, Oklahoma. Rita formed and created Our Family Matters, a nonprofit organization helping, motivating, and inspiring children and families in need.
Rita attended Turley Assembly of God Church, Turley, Oklahoma, Victory Christian Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Victory Life Churches in Durant, Oklahoma and Atoka, Oklahoma.
Rita enjoyed collecting memorabilia, and watching The Andy Griffith show and other classic television shows.
Rita's family became her number one purpose in her life. She enjoyed spending time together, sharing meals, reminiscing, and laughing with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol L. Shatwell, 2003.
She is survived by her father, former state senator, Bob R. Shatwell, Owasso, Oklahoma, her brother, Nathan R. Shatwell and wife Rosie Shatwell, Owasso, Oklahoma, nephew Cameron Shatwell and wife Lauren Shatwell of Collinsville, Oklahoma, niece Haleigh McDaniel and husband Jeremy McDaniel, Inola, Oklahoma, nephew Preston Shatwell, Tulsa, Oklahoma, great niece Adalynn McDaniel, Inola, Oklahoma, great niece Bellamy Shatwell, Collinsville, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2025 at 2 pm in Memorial Park Chapel, interment will immediately follow Rita's service in the Shatwell Family Plot in Memorial Park Cemetery.
