Obituary

June 7, 1936 - Feb. 24, 2018
Born in Warroad Minnesota to Ludvic & Axelina Loveid, who had both been born in Scandenavia: Lucvic in Norway and Axelina in Sweden. Rita's siblings were Natalie Dickson (who died in 2016), Karl Loveid (who died in 2007) and Jean Sykes who resides close-by in Verdigris. Growing up Rita loved to follow her father around on the farm and in high school was a majorette for the marching band. Rita graduated from high school in Warroad (1954) and soon after that married Alvin Temple, who had enlisted in the air force. She had four children: Gail Boswell & her husband Charlie Boswel of Victoria, Texas; Timothy Temple and his wife Julie Temple of San Antonio, Texas; Jeffery Temple of Cheongju, South Korea & Elizabeth Temple of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Cathy Edison and her husband Tony Chapa of Round Rock, Texas; James Edison of Houston, Texas; and Benjamin and Samuel Temple of San Antonio, Texas. And, three great grandchildren: Brooke Edison, and Lili & Gavin Chapa all living in Texas.
After moving to Tulsa, Rita worked as a dental assistant, owned an engraving business and worked as an insurance agent. It was as an animal care giver via as owner of the Strutting Pup that Rita worked in her later years and was only recently retiring from.
Rita's true calling was in the relationships she had with dozens and dozens of people in and around Tulsa as well as from her time before coming to Tulsa. Many of her clients and customers became friends, she cared deeply about her children, nephews and nieces and felt very blessed that her sister Jean lived closeby with other family members. Rita and Jean were not only sisters, but best friends.
And of course, her church family was also central to Rita's life. She was baptized & confirmed at Zion Lutheran in Warroad. Here at Zion she was in the choir for several years and most recently volunteered on the quilting ministry on Thursdays. In the Tulsa community Rita served as a chaplain at Hilcrest in the 1970s and in the 2000s volunteered with Hospice of Green Country.
Rita loved reading throughout her life as well as cooking all types of food.
