Robert Jerry Addington was born July 12, 1937, in Tulsa, OK. He was the second of seven children of Barney Lee and Gladys Mae (Moulder) Addington. He was a graduate of East Central High School and all three of his children followed suit, as did one grand-daughter. As soon as he graduated, he joined the military. He served three years in the U.S. Air Force as an Air policeman, before he changed service to the U.S. Navy, where he served an additional 20 years. While in service, he attended college and became an air mechanic. He completed his service as a Petty Officer First Class.
He traveled the world before retiring in 1977 and settling a few miles from his family home, back in Tulsa, OK. He worked for Radio Ink before fully retiring in the 1980's. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time being creative. He could turn trash into treasure. Tin can robots, newspaper coasters and soda can chandeliers were just a few of his many skills.
Robert married his one and only love, Donna Fay York on October 30,1959, in Memphis, TN. They had three children together and he worked hard to keep his family safe and secure. On one tour of duty, Robert was able to secure housing
in Guam and keep his family intact while he served. Robert passed on October 7, 2025 at the residence of his son, after having hip surgery.
He is preceded in death by his wife Donna (York) 2014. He is also preceded in death by both parents, his brothers Donnie Jean Addington (1979), and Eddie Ray Addington (2020), and his daughter Lisa Karen Addington (1984).
Robert is survived by: his sons, Perry Lee and wife Deborah (Reinholtz) Addington, Michael Scott and wife Tammy Kay (Harker) Addington, three grand children, Frederick Andrew, Grayson Jerry and Chelsea Emily Lynn Addington, three great grand children, Adelyn Sisk, Christopher and Bayley Addington. Three sisters: Diane Gale Wright, Tina Lee Richards and Shirley Ann Ritchey, one brother: Richard Charles Addington. He is also survived many nieces and nephews.
